Why WEL?

Why WEL?

In 1975, Bruce Tielens had a simple vision for a family business called Wisconsin Express Lines. Partnering with his father Wally, the company quickly grew into an industry leading refrigerated trucking business, providing both truckload and less-than-truckload services. The business soon blossomed into more than 150 trucks and trailers by 1987, providing nationwide service to some of the largest companies in the food, beverage, and dairy industries.

It started with several lies in which I didn't know were lies. I came in as a lease purchase. Went to the Oklahoma location to do orientation and get the truck. The trucks on the yard were horrible meaning was left the way the previous driver left them. From washing their butts in the fridge, seats missing, windshield cracked, lights not coming on, etc. I was told that what ever was wrong would be fixed before I left the yard. Well that didn't happen. I also was told that they have dedicated lanes, and that they had several different customers, if they couldn't book a load with their customer that they would get a backhaul. No one mentioned that you will hardly ever pick up in the day that the loads that are dispatch isn't paying a $1 a mile. Instead, they add the fuel into your run to give you a bigger number when ask what the load pays. The rates suppose to be sent to the truck but I stayed on the phone requesting it to be sent to the truck. I have gotten my settlement and the pay have been different then what the dispatchers and myself discussed. When i spoke with payroll I was told that they(disbatch guess) the rates. They don't know for sure the pay until it's actually paid out. Never ever heard of that.

Good place to work if you don't want anyone to return your calls. Also a great place to be mislead. If you like having someone's word on an issue arising and then that someone doesn't pull through this is the place to be. Also if you like money coming up missing every week please apply. In fact do the lease with these guys you will pay 100% of fuel but only get a percentage of the fuel surcharge. Good equipment not so good office personnel.

Delviered a load for them on Nov 24th 2022 and still have not been paid as of March 30 2023. They said its due to a potential claim on the customers end but wont provide us any explanantion, timeline or proof that they have attempted to resolve it. When we attempt to reach a supervisor all we get it voicemail. Don't bother with this broker if you want to get paid.

Pay rate for drivers was standard rate in 70's and not enough miles given to make ends meet, make drivers park in yards up to 75 miles away from home and most times don't receive work until drivers are already late which is unacceptable; on the other hand the training program for new drivers is top notch

Loads are bad. Pay is bad. Dispatch is selective on who gets to make money. Don’t do it. Dead head for five-six hours is not uncommon. Only to get a load that pays 4-5 hundred dollars.

The loads that go south pays but what you have coming out is another issue, it hurts because they don’t have shiddd What is the work environment and culture like at the company? If you don’t follow they leave you stuck and in a bad situation What is a typical day like for you at the company? Like sad because the rates are no good for a driver and yet the only one who is eating is the company

What is the best part of working at the company? They stay true to your contract. They are truly a family oriented business. The owners believe drivers drive, no need to work inside the trailer. It's all no touch. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Stress is on the driver managers. Any issues that rise up in your work schedule are handled by the team. You must have a plan that works well with your schedule. If it doesn't work they are flexible to meet change. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Totally a family environment. You can talk with anyone and about anything. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Start your day with morning pleasantries. Safety check of equipment. You are already preplanned /assigned your work load. By day or by week. Depending on your skill level.

They make lots of promises in orientation about pay and at first they were almost true. After being there 9 months and on my 5th fleet manager, because first 4 were fired, pay has drastically gone down. Don't plan on being here much longer. Huge lack of communication and you are basically left to figure it out. Would not recommend.

What is the best part of working at the company? New trucks they rotate the fleet so your chances of getting a new tractor is high What is the most stressful part about working at the company? DM can make you or break you. Communication and transparency is not good at all. Pay should be more than what it is. Also they should take care of current drivers belongings when they are not able to pick up immediately What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Some locations are better than others. Overall they alright. What is a typical day like for you at the company? You get a load, you usually have 1-2 days to reach your destination then u might have to wait a day (or 2) for a backhaul (depending on dm of course) try to get in as many loads as possible because the weekend /night despatch is a coin toss. They don't care to answer the phones as much as the work week. Lots of paperwork to fill out as well.
