Buchanan Hauling & Rigging
MOVE FOR THE FREIGHT OPPORTUNITY

Buchanan began as a family business, and it has remained a family business even as it’s grown. There are still company cookouts on Friday afternoons in the summer. There’s not a lot of red tape: If you’ve done a good job, Geary Buchanan or one of the managers might stop by your desk with a surprise gift card or take you out to lunch. In fact, Geary and Becky Buchanan are still very much the heart of this company. They’re readily available to any of their team, whether it be logistics, drivers, dispatch, safety … anyone.

Awesome company. Not just a number at Buchanan, they truly care about their drivers! Great pay and home time. Nice equipment but they do have driver facing cameras until your truck is paid off.

Poor leadership allows other depts to steer/ influence direction of company. Equipment not maintained properly and breakdowns poorly handled. Dispatch was good but often times you will be waiting with no pay. Not paid for resets

while working there it was the most money I've ever made but I earned every dime. I had to leave the company for medical reasons. after almost a year and a half go by and I call them up to see if they still want mean they say, sure your rehire able, and the medical gets put off for another 6 months. Done with the doctors now and it goes to the FMCSA now. So I call them back and after a month I finally get some one in human resources that tells me I haven't got enough to satisfy their requirement's so goodbye to them for now I guess.

Buchanan is a good company. You work Mon-Fri off every weekend. Seems like it would be great, but it’s very frustrating during the week. They’ll ask you to pull a trailer out of a customer or something, then when you get there to pull the load for them it’s not available or lost, so they’ll have you sitting doing absolutely nothing, completely screwing up your pre-plan, to find an alternative for you to take out for them. Most of the dispatchers don’t know what they are doing at all, they have to call up to 2 other people to tell them what to do, in order for them to give me the directive. It’s very unorganized and frustrating, but the pay is okay(long as you keep track of what you did, bc they would not pay you if they could), you’re home on the weekends, and it’s good experience. Two other things I hate about this company is all the cameras on the windshield and the outside mirrors(4 cameras in total ) and the trucks are governed at 65mph(talk about )

Florida drivers got a huge paycut from 1500$ min to zero, have to work day and night to make the amount of money they need with a min of sleep. They are looking for excuses to fire older drivers with experience. Don't apply there

The loads are very inconsistent they leave you out for weeks with only doing two maybe four loads a week. All their loads are low paying. They force drivers to take loads they are not willing to take

Promises not kept difficult communication with supervisors, no advancement opportunity. Pay was good, but routes and hours did not due pay justice. Promise to advance when hired but does not happen. Upper management is micro managed in some areas; some people just don't care, just doing their job for the pay check. Benefits are a little high but they compensate to bring down the cost. Overall, Buchannan is not a bad place to work; I worked there for nearly 3 years. You would have to be someone who likes the same old routine everyday, with no desire of change.
